Are You Ready to Nerd Out? Preparing for What If...? Season 3

As we countdown to the release of What If...? Season 3 on December 22nd, the excitement in the Marvel fanbase is palpable. If you haven’t seen the show yet, What If...? is an animated anthology series that dives deep into alternate timelines within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), exploring what might happen if key moments from the films had played out differently. Created by A.C. Bradley and featuring an incredible cast led by Jeffrey Wright as the Watcher, this show has given us a fresh look at beloved characters in different multiverses—and it's only getting better.

The Multiverse Takes Center Stage

Since the introduction of the multiverse in the MCU’s Phase 4, What If...? has become an essential part of exploring the vast possibilities within this cosmic chaos. While Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania teased the multiverse, it’s in What If...? that we truly see the creative freedom the multiverse offers. From exploring darker versions of characters like Doctor Strange to introducing new faces and ideas, the show has provided us with some unforgettable moments.

Revisiting Memorable Episodes

Season 1, Episode 4: What If Doctor Strange Lost His Heart, Not His Hands
One of the most captivating episodes from the first season explored an alternate Doctor Strange who, instead of losing his hands, loses the love of his life. This heartbreak leads to a darker, more vengeful version of Stephen Strange, one that feels closer to the tormented hero we saw in Multiverse of Madness—but with even more devastating consequences. It’s a deep dive into loss and the destructive power of obsession, and it's a reminder of how different the MCU could be with just a slight change in pivotal events.

Season 2, Episode 6: What If Kahhori Reshaped the World
Season 2 brought in new, diverse stories, with one of the standout episodes focusing on Kahhori, an indigenous character who reshapes the world in her own image. Not only did this episode give us a fresh hero to root for, but it also touched on important themes like colonialism and the erasure of indigenous cultures. Kahhori’s journey is a powerful exploration of resilience and empowerment, and her story adds a unique layer to the multiverse’s ever-expanding tapestry.

What to Expect in Season 3

The trailer for What If...? Season 3 promises to take us on even wilder rides. I’m particularly excited about the return of White Vision, who was last seen in WandaVision, and I can’t wait to see how the multiverse has evolved his character. I’ve always felt that Darcy (played by Kat Dennings) was underutilized in the Thor movies, and seeing her reprise her role in the animated series is such a treat.

We also get a sneak peek of characters from the Eternals like a Celestial, and I’m honestly excited to see where this part of the MCU’s mythos will go. I know it’s a controversial movie for some fans, but I found Eternals intriguing, and the chance to explore Celestials further is something I’m eager to see.

Another major highlight is Storm, voiced by Alison Sealy-Smith, making her appearance in the show. The portrayal of X-Men characters has often been sidelined in the films, so seeing Storm in an animated setting is a fantastic opportunity to dive deeper into her character. With the multiverse expanding and X-Men characters now part of different timelines, I’m sure What If...? will do justice to their legacies.

And let’s not forget the powerful Avengers Assemble moment from Falcon in the trailer—since Earth-616 doesn’t have a Steve Rogers leading the charge, it’s truly special to hear Falcon take on that iconic line.

Why What If...? Is a Must-Watch

What makes What If...? such an exciting addition to the MCU is its ability to explore different possibilities that would otherwise be impossible in the live-action films. It taps into the heart of the multiverse, allowing the creators to dream up scenarios that challenge the characters we know and love, all while giving them fresh opportunities to shine in ways we never imagined.

The first two seasons of What If...? set a high bar with their unique storytelling and exploration of alternate realities. As we approach Season 3, I can’t help but feel thrilled to see how they’ll raise the stakes and introduce even more unexpected twists. Whether it’s revisiting familiar characters in new settings or diving into fresh faces and complex scenarios, this animated series continues to push the boundaries of what’s possible in the MCU.

As we gear up for another season of mind-bending adventures, it’s clear that What If...? is not just a series about alternate timelines; it’s a celebration of the endless possibilities the multiverse holds. I, for one, am counting down the days to December 22nd—let’s nerd out together and see where this next chapter of the multiverse takes us.

Dream Productions Episode 4 Review: A Night to Remember - A Bittersweet Finale to Riley’s Imaginative World

The final episode of Dream Productions , A Night to Remember , brings the series to an emotional and satisfying close. Packed with heartfelt moments, clever storytelling, and an exploration of Riley's subconscious, the episode is a testament to the creativity that has made this miniseries shine. Riley's Struggles: A Relatable Turning Point The episode begins with Riley confiding in her father about feeling overwhelmed by the upcoming school dance—no date, no dress, and mounting anxiety. Her father, in a classic parent move, advises her to “sleep on it.” This sets the stage for Dream Productions to pull off one last attempt to sway Riley’s decision. Meanwhile, back at the studio, Paula, demoted and working from home, confronts her own self-doubt after the sleepwalking debacle. The tension rises as Xeni, now with his own vendetta, sabotages Paula by sneaking in an awful script—a horrifying emotional rollercoaster disguised as a dream. A Redemption Arc: Xeni’s Change of Heart Xeni...

Dream Productions Episode 3 Review: "Romance" - A Love Letter to Imagination and Shenanigans

Episode 3 of Dream Productions , titled Romance , dives deep into Riley's preteen mind, blending humor, creativity, and clever nods to pop culture. The episode opens with Paula coming to terms with needing Xeni as her Assistant Director. The dynamic duo, while chaotic, embarks on a journey to experiment with unconventional themes—this time, romance. Café Maturity: A Teen Dream Within a Dream Xeni introduces Paula to Café Maturity, a quirky and slightly intimidating hub where Riley's visions of teenage independence come to life. Picture this: a barista version of Teenage Riley, pouring metaphorical lattes of self-discovery while preteens awkwardly sip on "coolness." The café becomes a playground for hilarious and relatable scenarios, from Riley's imaginary consideration of tattoos to trying coffee. The highlight? The introduction of Canadian Boyfriend—a charming, poetic figure who takes centre stage at the café's open mic. His heartfelt performance captivates ...

Review: Skeleton Crew Season 1, Episode 6 – Zero Friends Again

Anyone who calls themselves a Star Wars fan and hasn’t been keeping up with Skeleton Crew is seriously missing out. This isn’t just a kids’ show—it’s a vibrant addition to the Star Wars universe with heart, depth, and thrilling adventure. I’ve previously shared my thoughts on Mike Giacchino’s phenomenal score and how the series combines a Goonies-style camaraderie with a pirate-themed Star Wars adventure. Jude Law shines as the charming swashbuckler, always finding himself in trouble yet managing to stay one step ahead with his cleverness. But what truly sets this show apart is the incredible young cast and the heartwarming dynamics between their characters. While I missed reviewing the earlier episodes, Episode 6, Zero Friends Again, left such an impression that I couldn’t stay away. Throughout the series, the group dynamics among the four kids— Fern, Wim, Neel, and KB—have been a focal point. We've seen a recurring power struggle between Fern and Wim, with Neel and KB ...
